UPDATE: The City of Houston (the “City”) is currently in Stage 2 of the City’s Drought Contingency Plan. Since The Groves receives a portion of its water from a City water source, Harris County MUD No. 504 (the “District”) is required to enter Stage 2 as well.
During the past month, the City and surrounding areas have continued to have record-setting high temperatures above 90 degrees and a significant decrease in rainfall. As a result, most of the City’s service area is still experiencing moderate to severe drought conditions. While there is not a water supply concern at this time, these conditions now call for implementation of Stage Two mandatory water conservation measures effective August 27th.
Stage Two drought response calls for the following mandatory water conservation measures:
- Outdoor water use will be restricted except for the following time periods:
Between the hours of 7PM and 5AM with the following schedule:- Sundays & Thursdays for single-family residential customers with even-numbered street addresses;
- Saturdays and Wednesdays for single-family residential customers with odd-numbered street addresses; and
- Tuesdays and Fridays for all other customers.
Water customers are also reminded to continue everyday efforts to prevent the loss of water:
- Check & repair water leaks, including dripping faucets & running toilets.
- Check sprinkler heads to make sure water is not spraying into the street or directly into a storm drain and/or gutters.
The District’s Board of Directors appreciates your assistance in helping the City reduce water use by 10%. A full copy of the District’s Drought Contingency Plan can be found on the Documents page.
